Capture a product
Turn any product page into a Moodiri product in one click, with its photos, price, dimensions and vendor, sent to a project or your Library.
Why use it
Re-typing product details from a website into a spec is slow, and the typos show up later on invoices. The extension reads the page for you: name, brand, model, price, dimensions, finish, photos and even the spec sheet link, and links the right vendor.
When to use it
- Sourcing for a room. Capture several options straight into a product section, ready to send for approval.
- Building your catalog. Save to library for products you want to keep for later, without a project.
- Quick adds. Draft product drops it into a space so you can sort it out later.
To add a product by pasting its link inside Moodiri instead, see Add a product from a link.
Before you start
- Install the extension and connect it with your API key. See Install and connect.
- To send to a project, the project needs a space. See Add a space.
Steps
- Open the product page on the supplier's website and pick the variant you want, such as the finish or size.
- Choose the extension icon, then Spec this product. Or press Alt+M to open it and capture in one go.
- Check the captured details. Under Add more photos, tap any extra photos you want to keep.
- Choose where it goes. Take the suggestion (Add to a section or space), choose Save to library, or choose Somewhere else….
- To pick a place yourself, choose the Project and Space, then under Add as choose In a section or Draft product.
- Choose Add to section, Create section & add, or Add as draft.
- Choose View on Moodiri to open it, or Add another product to keep going.
Choose photos, variant and category
- Variant: pick the finish, size or colour on the website before you capture. The extension reads the options selected on the page.
- Photos: the main photo is always saved. Extra photos from the gallery appear under Add more photos; tap each one to include it. They are saved only when your firm has Include additional photos turned on in Browser extension settings.
- Category: Moodiri works out the product's category from the page. It uses it to suggest where the product should go, and to name a new section.
- Vendor: the vendor is matched to one in your Directory, or created for you. If the vendor has a trade discount set to auto-apply, the product picks it up.
Send to a project, space or section
Suggested for you offers one place, based on the product's category and where you have been working recently. Choose it to add the product there in one click. To pick yourself, choose Somewhere else… (or Choose a project & space when there is no suggestion), then the Project and Space.
With In a section, the product becomes an option in that section, ready to compare and send for approval. Choose New section… to create one as you add the product.
Save to the Library
Choose Save to library to keep the product in your Library without adding it to a project. You see Saved to your library, and it is available in every project.
Add as draft
Under Add as, choose Draft product, then Add as draft. The product goes into the space on its own, outside any section, so you can review it and move it later. See Import a captured product.
What happens next
- You see Added to and the place it went, or Saved to your library.
- View on Moodiri opens the space, where you can see the new product or the section it joined.
- The vendor is linked, and the product is kept in your Library for reuse.
Limits
- Up to 20 photos per captured product.
- Up to 30 captures per firm per hour.
- A new section name can be up to 120 characters.
- Each capture counts towards your firm's monthly captures.
Questions
Does the extension see trade prices?
It reads the page as you see it in your own browser. If you are signed in to a trade account and the page shows your trade price, that is the price captured.
Does every capture use up one of my monthly captures?
Captures count towards your firm's monthly captures. Opening the panel without capturing does not. After a capture, the panel shows how many captures are left this month.
Is the product also saved to the Library?
Yes. Products you capture are kept in your Library as well, so you can reuse them later.
