Payment receipts
When clients get a receipt automatically, when you send one yourself, and when no receipt goes out at all.
A receipt tells your client what you received and when. Moodiri sends one automatically when your client pays online, and lets you send one for payments you record yourself. Applying credit or a retainer doesn't send a "you paid" receipt, because no new money changed hands.
How receipts are sent
| How the invoice was paid | Receipt to your client |
|---|---|
| Online through Stripe (card, bank transfer, Apple Pay) | Sent automatically when the payment succeeds. |
| Recorded payment (check, Zelle, wire, cash…) | Only when you choose Send receipt. See Send a receipt or the paid invoice. |
| Client credit or a retainer | No payment receipt. If client credit settles the whole invoice, you can choose Send paid invoice. |
| Imported invoice marked Paid | None. Import never emails clients. |
| Refund you recorded | A refund receipt, if you tick Email the refund receipt or send it later. See Refund receipts. |
Where your client finds receipts
Receipts go to the email address on the client record. Your client can also download a receipt from the payment page and see their invoices and payments in the portal. See Download PDFs and receipts.
Good to know
- A receipt can't be sent for a voided payment.
- Without a client email, Moodiri can't send a receipt. Add one to the client first.
- You are notified of each paid invoice, whatever the payment method.
Questions
My client paid by check. Did they get a receipt?
Not unless you sent one. For recorded payments, choose Send receipt after recording, or from the payment's actions on Financials.
Do I get notified when a client pays?
Yes. When an invoice is paid, you get an email and an in-app notification, depending on your notification settings.
