# Record one check that pays several invoices

> Record one check that pays several invoices, so your books show one deposit and each invoice is paid oldest first.

## Why this matters

Clients often send one check for everything they owe. Recording it once keeps a single deposit in your books, matches what your bank shows, and still marks each invoice paid in the right order.

## The steps

1. [Record a manual payment](https://docs.moodiri.com/invoices/record-a-manual-payment): Start recording the check from one of the client's open invoices.
2. [Record one check that pays several invoices](https://docs.moodiri.com/invoices/record-one-payment-across-several-invoices): Spread the check across the client's open invoices; amounts fill oldest due first.
3. [Overpayments and client credit](https://docs.moodiri.com/invoices/overpayments-and-client-credit): Anything left after paying the invoices is held as client credit.
4. [Send a receipt or the paid invoice](https://docs.moodiri.com/invoices/send-a-payment-receipt): Send your client a receipt for the payment.

## Good to know

- The option to pay several invoices only appears when the client has more than one open invoice.
- Every invoice the check pays is dated with the check's received date.
- With QuickBooks connected, it receives one payment linked to every invoice.
