# Close the month: reports, sales tax and QuickBooks

> One pass each month to see what you billed and collected, what sales tax you owe, and that QuickBooks matches Moodiri.

## Why this matters

Month-end is where small mismatches turn into big ones. Doing the same short pass every month (what came in, what's outstanding, what tax you owe, and whether QuickBooks agrees) keeps your books trustworthy and tax time calm.

## The steps

1. [Financial Hub](https://docs.moodiri.com/financials/financial-hub): Start in the Financial Hub for today's collections, invoices and client funds.
2. [Financials report](https://docs.moodiri.com/financials/financials-report): Check the month's revenue, payments, aging and retainers.
3. [Sales tax report](https://docs.moodiri.com/financials/sales-tax-report): Run the sales tax report for the period and jurisdictions you file for.
4. [Record a sales tax remittance](https://docs.moodiri.com/financials/record-a-sales-tax-remittance): Record what you paid the tax authority so the balance owed is right.
5. [Review QuickBooks sync](https://docs.moodiri.com/settings/review-quickbooks-sync): Review the QuickBooks sync and clear anything held back.
6. [Choose which QuickBooks item each kind of line posts to](https://docs.moodiri.com/settings/map-quickbooks-categories): Check which QuickBooks item each kind of invoice line posts to.

## Good to know

- Recording or undoing a remittance needs an admin, sales tax tools and the Financial Hub.
- Reviewing the QuickBooks sync needs the **Integrations** permission; category mapping shows only while QuickBooks is connected.
- Category mapping applies when an invoice is first sent to QuickBooks.
