# Collect a client's brief with question flows

> Replace the intake questionnaire you email around with a branded flow your client answers in the portal, attached to a room.

## Why this matters

Intake questionnaires sent as attachments come back half-filled, in the wrong version, or not at all. A question flow lives in the portal, branches on your client's answers, and saves as they go, so you get complete answers attached to the room they're about.

## The steps

1. [Create a question flow](https://docs.moodiri.com/client-portal/create-a-question-flow): Build the questions, choose their types and add branching where answers lead elsewhere.
2. [Publish and attach a question flow](https://docs.moodiri.com/client-portal/publish-and-attach-a-question-flow): Publish the flow so it can be attached. Its questions become read-only once published.
3. [Attach a brief](https://docs.moodiri.com/spaces/attach-a-brief): Attach the published flow to the room it's about.
4. [Space brief](https://docs.moodiri.com/spaces/space-brief#preview-as-the-client): Check the brief the way your client will see it before they start.
5. [Answer a space brief](https://docs.moodiri.com/for-clients/answer-a-space-brief): Your client answers in the portal; answers save as they go.
6. [Space brief](https://docs.moodiri.com/spaces/space-brief#track-brief-status): Watch for the brief to be submitted, then read the answers on the room.

## Good to know

- Build a flow once and reuse it on every project.
- Project intake uses its own automatic flow per project; you don't attach flows to projects.
- A submitted brief can't be detached from the room.
