# Track time and bill it

> Take hourly work from a timer or your calendar to an approved timesheet and onto an invoice, without retyping hours.

## Why this matters

Hours get lost between a timer, a calendar and a spreadsheet, and every lost hour is money you don't bill. Tracking time against the project's phases, approving it weekly and invoicing straight from the approved entries means what you bill matches what was worked.

## The steps

1. [Set up project phases and tasks](https://docs.moodiri.com/time-tracking/set-up-project-phases-and-tasks): Set up the project's phases and tasks so time lands in the right place.
2. [Start a timer](https://docs.moodiri.com/time-tracking/start-a-timer): Start a timer when you begin work on a task.
3. [Log time](https://docs.moodiri.com/time-tracking/log-time): Log hours by hand for work you didn't time.
4. [Connect, sync and disconnect Google Calendar](https://docs.moodiri.com/time-tracking/connect-google-calendar): Connect Google Calendar so your meetings show beside your time. Moodiri only reads your calendar.
5. [Submit and recall a week](https://docs.moodiri.com/time-tracking/submit-a-week): Submit your week for approval when it's complete.
6. [Approve, return or reopen a week](https://docs.moodiri.com/time-tracking/approve-a-timesheet): Approve the week, or return it for changes.
7. [Invoice unbilled time](https://docs.moodiri.com/time-tracking/invoice-unbilled-time): Put approved, unbilled time onto an invoice with client-facing details.

## Good to know

- Nobody approves their own week with **Approve**. Owners and approvers are approved automatically when they submit their own week.
- An invoice can hold up to 500 time entries. Bill the rest on a second invoice.
