**Invoicing** holds the firm-wide defaults behind every invoice: how much you mark up products and shipping, how online payment fees are handled, and how Moodiri helps with project sales tax. Getting these right before your first invoice saves editing every line later.

Open **Settings**, then choose **Invoicing**.

Only the owner and admins with the **Firm settings** permission can change these defaults. Everyone else sees them read-only.

## What you see here

### Markup

- **Default product markup.** The percentage new products start with.
- **Default shipping markup.** New products start with the vendor's shipping cost plus this markup. Editing a product's client shipping charge creates an override on that product.
- **Project overrides.** Active projects that use their own markup instead of the firm default. Choose a project to open its markup setting.

### Payment fees

Choose how card and bank (ACH) processing fees are handled when clients pay online with Stripe:

- **Firm absorbs all processing fees.** Clients see only the invoice total. Fees come out of your payment.
- **Add permitted card fee, absorb ACH.** Clients who pay by card see the allowed fee. Your firm absorbs the lower bank-payment fee.
- **Add permitted fees to online payments.** Eligible card and bank fees are shown to the client before they pay.

The **Fee preview** below the options shows what the client pays and what you receive for each payment method on an example invoice. Payments you record manually have no online processing.

### Sales tax

- **Detect jurisdiction from project address.** Moodiri suggests a tax jurisdiction for you to review when a project is created or its address changes.
- **Apply accepted project tax to products.** Products follow the project's accepted tax decision. Products with a manual rate, an exemption, or completed billing keep their own.
- **Responsibility checkbox.** Turning on either option asks you to confirm that taxability and rates are your firm's responsibility. You must tick it before you can save.
- **Project tax status.** A list of active projects and where each stands, for example **Address suggestion ready to review**, **Project address changed**, or **No active project rate**. Projects that need a decision are counted at the top. Choose a project to review it.

Choose **Save changes** at the bottom to save markups, fees and sales tax options together. You see **Settings saved.** when it worked.

## Show sales tax reminders

Sales tax pop-ups and reminders can be dismissed with a "don't show again" choice. **Show sales tax reminders** turns them back on. This switch is personal: it only changes what you see, it saves as soon as you flip it, and every member can use it.

Hiding reminders never turns off the checks that stop a wrong invoice from going out.

## Limits

- Firm markups apply to new products. Project and product overrides stay with their own records.
- Automatic sales tax assistance cannot be saved until the responsibility checkbox is ticked.
- The fee preview is an estimate at standard rates. Actual processing can differ.
- Sales tax reminders are set per person.

## Troubleshooting

- **Confirm your firm's responsibility before saving automatic sales-tax assistance.** Tick the responsibility checkbox under **Automatic assistance**, then save again.
- **Project tax statuses are temporarily unavailable.** Open a project to review its sales tax setup directly, then come back later.

## Questions

### If I change the default markup, do existing products change?

No. Firm defaults apply to new products. Projects and products with their own markup keep it.

### Does Moodiri decide my sales tax rates?

No. Address-based rates are suggestions. Your firm confirms each rate and what is taxable.

### I hid a sales tax pop-up by mistake. How do I get it back?

Turn on **Show sales tax reminders**. It is a personal setting, so it only affects what you see.
