# Project notes

> Keep meeting notes, measurements and ideas on the project, shared with your team or private to you, with photos, links and full history.

Project notes are your team's notebook for a job: site-visit notes, measurements, a list of what the client said in the last meeting, photos from the walk-through. They live on the project, not in someone's inbox, so whoever picks up the project next can read the history. Notes are never shown to your client.

To open them, go to the project overview and choose **Open project notes** in the **Notes** section of the side panel. The panel shows your latest note; the notes workspace opens over the page.

## What you see here

- **Project notes list.** Every note you can open, with private notes marked. Choose **New note** to start one.
- **The open note.** Its title, when it was last updated and who it is shared with, plus **Team** or **Private**, **History**, **Delete note** and **Edit note**.
- **Trash.** At the bottom of the list, notes deleted in the last 30 days.

Notes open in viewing mode first. Choose **Edit note** to change one. See [Create and edit a note](https://docs.moodiri.com/projects/create-and-edit-a-note).

## Formatting, images and link previews

While editing, the toolbar offers **Bold**, **Underline**, **Heading 1**, **Heading 2**, **Bullet list**, **Numbered list** and **Checklist**.

- **Add link** adds a website link. Leave **Show title and website preview** on to show the page's title and image in the note. Previews need an https:// link.
- **Attach image** adds photos, or drop photos straight onto the note. JPEG, PNG, WebP and GIF images are supported.

## Team vs. private notes

- A **Team note** is visible to your team.
- A **Private note** can only be opened by the person who wrote it.

You choose when you create the note and can change it later with the **Team** or **Private** button. Only the note's creator can change its privacy.

## Version history

Callout 1: History

Every save keeps a version. Choose **History** on an open note to see **Version history**, select a version to compare it with the one before, and choose **Restore version** to bring it back. The restored version replaces the current note.

If a version had different privacy, Moodiri asks first: **Restore as a private note?** or **Restore and share with your team?** Only the note's creator can restore a version that changes privacy.

## Trash: restore and permanently delete

Same screen with numbered callouts: https://docs.moodiri.com/shots/projects--project-notes--trash-restore-and-permanently-delete-annotated.webp
Callout 1: Trash

**Delete note** moves a note to **Trash** with **Move to Trash**. Its photos and version history are kept while it is there.

Open **Trash** at the bottom of the note list to see deleted notes and how many days each has left. Open one and choose **Restore** to put it back with its photos and full history, or **Delete permanently** to remove it now. Notes in Trash are deleted automatically after 30 days.

## Limits

- Members can open notes, but only the owner and admins see **New note** and can edit.
- A private note is only visible to its author.
- Images can be up to 10 MB each, with up to 100 images in a note.
- Notes in Trash are deleted automatically after 30 days. **Delete permanently** cannot be undone.
