# Propose a family change

> Send your client a proposed change to an approved product family, with the new pricing, for them to accept.

## Why use it

Once your client has approved a family, changing it quietly would change what they
agreed to and what they will pay. A proposal shows them the new family and its
pricing, and nothing changes until they accept. Your record shows exactly what was
proposed and when it was accepted.

## When to use it

- **Swapping a piece** in an approved set, such as a different chaise on a sectional.
- **Adding a piece** your client needs to agree to pay for.
- **Changing a shared family** your client can already see in their portal.

If your client already agreed in person, you can [apply the change without client review](https://docs.moodiri.com/products/family-revisions#apply-a-change-without-client-review) instead.

## Before you start

- A family your client has reviewed, approved or can see. Changes to drafts apply right away instead.
- A client on the project with an email address.

## Steps

1. On the family page, here **Windsor Oak Dining Table**, choose **Add sub-products** in **Actions**.
2. Find the product, for example by searching *Oak* across the **Whole project**, then choose it or its **Copy** button.
3. Confirm with **Copy product** or **Move product**. When the change touches products your client has reviewed or can see, Moodiri asks how to apply it.
4. Choose **Review proposal** to open the draft, and check the **Proposed family** and its pricing lines.
5. Choose **Send for client approval**, or **Cancel proposal** to drop it.

## What happens next

- Moodiri shows **Proposal sent for client approval**. Your client gets an approval request titled *Proposed changes to* the parent's name, with one option: **Accept the proposed family**.
- While it is out, the page reads **Waiting for the client. Your current family is unchanged.**
- When your client accepts, the moves, selection changes and draft invoice updates are applied, and the page keeps the proposal as a receipt.
- **Cancel proposal** withdraws it. Moodiri confirms that the current family is unchanged.

## Limits

- A family can have one open proposal at a time.
- Issued invoices and payments are never changed by a proposal.

## Troubleshooting

- **The family, pricing, or billing changed since this proposal was prepared.** Something changed after you made the draft. Cancel the proposal and make the change again from the current family.
- **This family already has a client review.** A proposal is already out. Choose **Review proposal** to review or withdraw it.

## Questions

### Can I add more changes to the same proposal?

Yes, while it is a draft. Further changes to the family join the draft proposal. Once it is sent, review or withdraw it before making more changes.

### My client asked for changes. What now?

Cancel the proposal and prepare a new one from the current family.
