# Reset your password

> Forgot your password? Request a reset link from the log-in page, confirm it, and set a new password of at least 8 characters.

## Why use it

A reset link proves you own your email address, so you can get back into your firm's
workspace without anyone else's help.

## When to use it

- **You forgot your password.**
- **You want to change it** and can't remember the current one.

If you are already signed in and only want to add or change a password, use
[Profile](https://docs.moodiri.com/settings/profile) instead.

## Before you start

- Access to the email inbox you use for Moodiri.
- Open the log-in page and try to log in once. **Forgot password?** appears after a failed attempt.

## Steps

1. Open the log-in page. The reset link starts here, under the log-in form.
2. Try your **Email address** and password and choose **Log in**. If it fails, **Forgot password?** appears under the button.
3. Choose **Forgot password?**, type the email you signed up with, and choose **Send reset link**.
4. Open the email, follow the link, and choose **Continue** on the **Confirm your sign-in** page.
5. On **Create your password**, type your new password, then type it again to confirm it.
6. Choose **Set password**. Moodiri signs you in and opens your workspace.

## What happens next

- After **Set password**, you are signed in and Moodiri opens your workspace.
- Next time, log in with your email and the new password. See [Sign in](https://docs.moodiri.com/getting-started/sign-in).

## Limits

- **Forgot password?** appears only after a failed log-in attempt.
- Passwords need at least 8 characters and no more than 72 bytes (about 72 plain letters and numbers).

## Troubleshooting

- **Passwords don't match.**: type the same password in both fields.
- **Password must be at least 8 characters.**: choose a longer password.
- **Verify your identity**: if this link appears with an error, your confirmation has timed out. Choose it, confirm with Google or a new email link, then set your password again.
- **This link isn't valid**: the reset link is incomplete or has expired. Choose **Back to log in** and request a new one.

## Questions

### I signed up with Google. Do I need a password?

No. Keep choosing **Continue with Google**. You can add a password later from your profile if you want both. See [Profile](https://docs.moodiri.com/settings/profile).

### The reset email didn't arrive.

Check spam and make sure you typed the email you signed up with. Then go back to the log-in page and request another link.
