# Companies and people

> A Directory record for a company or person you work with, such as a contractor or architect, with their contact details and notes.

Beyond clients and vendors, projects involve other companies and people: general contractors,
architects, consultants and sales representatives. Directory records hold their contact details once,
so you can assign them to projects as [project stakeholders](https://docs.moodiri.com/projects/project-overview#project-stakeholders)
without retyping them.

## What you see here

A company or person record shows:

- The name, and for a person their title.
- **Contact**: email, phone and, for a company, the website. Choose one to email, call or open it.
  When nothing is recorded you see **No contact details recorded.**
- **Notes**: anything your team wrote about them, or **No notes recorded.**

A record that has been archived is labelled **Archived Directory record**.

## How it works

On a project's overview, **Project stakeholders** assigns a Directory company or person to the project
with a role such as **General contractor**, **Architect**, **Consultant** or **Sales representative**.
The record stays the same across every project it is assigned to.
